When you are addicted to a drug like Rohypnol, you are focused on one thing and one thing only – Rohypnol. This focus devastates you, your family and your friends. After addiction treatment you may feel empowered and more involved in life than ever before. It is easy to live as if addiction never happened, but pretending it no longer exists is not a long-term solution. You should never take your recovery for granted, because doing so puts you at risk for relapse. Remember where you were and how far you’ve come. Keep in mind what you have learned in rehab and continue your treatments to prevent relapse.

Rohypnol Addiction Relapse Risks

In rehab you learned about your relapse triggers which are the people, places or events that can bring back strong memories of past drug use. These memories can be the beginning of another round of addiction if you don’t avoid or manage triggers. Since Rohypnol is a common club drug, leaving behind Rohypnol use may mean abandoning a social lifestyle that enabled your addiction. Staying away from friends who encourage Rohypnol use may be too difficult to do on your own. If you have a firm foundation in rehab, you will also have gained a strong support system that includes people to fall back on when the temptation to start using again seems to surround you.

Continuing Treatment for Rohypnol Addiction

One of the most important things you can do after primary care that involves completing an inpatient and/or outpatient program is to enroll in an aftercare program. Aftercare is a less intense form of addiction treatment. This may mean staying at a halfway house or sober living home until you get back on your feet or it could simply involve periodic support group or private therapy sessions. Continuing Rohypnol addiction treatment keeps the fight against addiction a conscious part of your thoughts which will in turn allow you to avoid relapse triggers better. Don’t take your recovery from Rohypnol for granted. Maintain your sobriety by staying aware of your risk.

Finding or Maintaining Rohypnol Addiction Recovery

If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, call our toll-free helpline and break the addiction cycle. We are available for you to call 24 hours a day, anytime you need encouragement or addiction counseling. Your insurance can help cover the costs of rehab, so don’t hesitate to get treatment today.

Rohypnol is a benzodiazepine medication with sedating, anti-anxiety, and hypnotic properties.
Although it’s prescribed in a number of countries to treat insomnia, Rohypnol has never been legal in the United States. It’s commonly smuggled in, however, and is widely abused.

Rohypnol is a very powerful drug, about 10 times as strong as Valium. The effects of a single dose, as small as 1 milligram, can last for 8 to 12 hours. Effects begin after about 30 minutes, and typically peak about two hours after ingestion.

The Risks of Rohypnol Use

Although Rohypnol isn’t legally prescribed in the United States, other benzodiazepine drugs are commonly used in the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. Even the legal benzodiazepine drugs, however, are only approved for the short-term use of a few weeks. This is due to the fact that drug tolerance and dependence can develop very quickly. Drug dependence can lead to drug addiction, in which people crave the drug, are unable to control their consumption of it and continue to use it despite negative consequences.

Rohypnol Side Effects

There are a number of very serious effects associated with Rohypnol. The drug is known as a “date-rape” drug, because it tends to cause disinhibition and amnesia. People who take the drug, either knowingly or unknowingly, may not remember anything that happened while they were under its influence. The effects are intensified when the drug is combined with alcohol, leading to memory loss of up to 24 hours.

Rohypnol is a sedating drug, and as such can cause extreme drowsiness, slurred speech, decreased blood pressure and impaired coordination. It can also cause paradoxical effects such as aggression, nightmares, and seizures. Confusion is common. Many overdose deaths are attributed to respiratory depression, which is especially common when Rohypnol is combined with alcohol.

When people become dependent on Rohypnol, withdrawal symptoms also become part of the picture. There are a wide variety of possible withdrawal symptoms. These include vomiting, headache, insomnia, heart problems, seizures, hallucinations and delirium. It is important that Rohypnol detox be supervised medically, because withdrawal can be dangerous and even fatal.

Rohypnol is widely abused, in part, because it is relatively inexpensive. However, it isn’t a safe drug to take recreationally in any amount. The risks are too high and the possible consequences too great.

Rohypnol Addiction Help

If you find yourself struggling with a Rohypnol addiction and are ready to break free, give us a call. Counselors who staff our toll-free helpline are ready to answer your questions. They can help you understand your treatment options, including checking your insurance coverage, if you wish, at no cost or obligation. We’re available 24 hours a day, so there’s never a wrong time to call. Don’t live with the risks of Rohypnol. Call now.

Rohypnol is a benzodiazepine with sedative/hypnotic class properties. Its chemical makeup and effects are similar to those of Valium and Xanax. However, Rohypnol is not approved for medical use in the United States and its importation is banned. Its illicit use is primarily among teens and young adults as a club drug at bars, dances, parties and raves. It is also used as a date rape drug due to its sedative effects and tendency to produce temporary amnesia.

Potential for Rohypnol Addiction

Like other benzodiazepines, chronic use of Rohypnol can produce a strong physical addiction. Since withdrawal symptoms can be severe and possibly life threatening, treatment for Rohypnol addiction begins with a medically supervised 3 to 5 day detox process.

Adverse Effects of Rohypnol

Rohypnol commonly produces temporary amnesia. When mixed with alcohol or other central nervous system (CNS) depressants, it can be lethal. Additionally, since Rohypnol is illegal, its source of manufacture and chemical makeup may be questionable, and it may contain contaminants of unknown toxicity. Therefore, it can cause a multitude of possible adverse effects.

Statistics of Rohypnol Abuse

Data concerning Rohypnol abuse is somewhat sketchy due to the drug’s illegality and use is strictly illicit. However, what statistical data there are suggest that Rohypnol use is relatively rare and appears to be on the decline. Used primarily by young people, Rohypnol had its popularity peak between 1996 and 2004. According to the 2009 Monitoring the Future (MTF) study, the past year’s use of Rohypnol among high school students was between 0.4% and 1.0%, down from its peak of 1.0% to 1.6%. Since use of Rohypnol occurs primarily in social situations, it may be assumed that physical addiction occurs rarely and primarily among those who have used it repeatedly for its intoxicating effects.

Treatment for Rohypnol Addiction

The fact that Rohypnol addiction is rare offers little comfort if you are one of the people unlucky enough to be caught in its grip. The addiction can be strong and the withdrawal symptoms severe. You may feel that you are alone in your struggle, but rest assured that you are not. There is a whole treatment community available to you once you decide to break free from addiction. Rohypnol addiction may be rare, but benzodiazepine addiction is not, and there are professionals working in the treatment community who know how to treat Rohypnol addiction. Professional treatment offers medically supervised detox to ensure your safety and make you as comfortable as possible during this harrowing and potentially dangerous process. Rehab also offers counseling to address both psychological and behavioral issues related to drug abuse and addiction. If you are addicted to Rohypnol it is imperative that you seek treatment. A comprehensive rehab program that includes medically supervised detox offers your best chance by far of a safe and successful recovery from Rohypnol addiction.

Rohypnol is used for sedative and hypnotic effects, and it is a benzodiazepine. The drug is approved in the United States, but is used recreationally domestically and medicinally in parts of Europe and South America. Rohypnol is also referred to as the “date rape” drug because it can cause memory loss. The drug is too frequently smuggled into the United States and is popular among high school and college students. Rohypnol is often used along with other drugs such as heroin and alcohol. Using Rohypnol may be the basis of a person’s social life and so called friendships. Without the drug addicts may feel excluded from a social group or may feel they are missing out on the party.

What Is Scary about Rohypnol Sobriety?

Drug addiction does not only manifest itself through physical symptoms or cravings, but also through emotional and psychological attachment. Drug abuse grafts itself to all areas of life, and one of the most difficult of those areas to sustain without continued use is a social life. Many of an addict’s relationships are with other people who also abuse drugs. As addiction develops, addicts often seek out environments that condone or encourage addictive behavior. This would also mean that addicts avoid the places and relationships that discourage drug use or those that demand honesty. As addicts consider the possibility of sobriety, those relationships that are based on a mutual drug interest are jeopardized. Unfortunately, it is this potential loss of comfort, the danger of no longer being welcome around the people and environments that make them feel accepted, that challenges their desire to become sober.

Why Is Getting Clean from Rohypnol Advantageous?

In light of those perceived disadvantages regarding sobriety, why should it be attempted? One reason to become sober is those very reasons for continued drug use. Consider the implications of your fear. If you believe that to cease drug use would mean the loss of friendship, then what quality of a relationship is it that you may lose? The friendships between addicts can be based on an understanding that use is okay. If you choose to become sober, your actions cast doubt upon this agreement. In addition to these drug relationships being less valuable than you thought, your ability to work and relate to the world around you improves with sobriety.

Help for Rohypnol Addiction

If you or someone that you care about is suffering from an addiction to Rohypnol, then please call our 24 hour, toll-free helpline. The trained and experienced professionals answering the phones are able to answer your initial questions and even arrange transportation to the facility of your choice. Though there may be concerns regarding a life of sobriety, remember that many of the reasons that you may be holding onto addiction, specifically the social reasons, should be questioned. You are not defined by your addiction, and while you are using, you are not operating at your highest level. Take advantage of the help that is available to you.

Deciding recover from Rohypnol addiction can be difficult in itself, but it can be even more difficult to tell your closest friends and family about your problem, as well as opening up to medical professionals that you don’t even know. Some people find this difficulty so overwhelming that they simply resolve to attempt Rohypnol recovery at home and on their own. This is not only unsafe, but it often proves ineffective.

Why Shouldn’t I Try Rohypnol Recovery at Home?

Although it may seem tempting to try to recover from Rohypnol addiction at home and on your own terms, it can be extremely damaging not only to your health, but also to your spirit. Trying to recover at home without professional medical help and the support of your friends, family, and professional counselors can put your health at risk. Severe withdrawal symptoms that often come along with detox can sometimes cause your health to be at risk; without professionals monitoring you 24 hours a day you can really damage your health. Also, the severe withdrawal symptoms and cravings that often come along with detox can cause you to relapse very early in your attempted recovery, especially if you lack the right help and support. This can not only put you back at square one, but it can cause you to lose spirit in your recovery and could even make your Rohypnol addiction worse.

Rohypnol Recovery in a Rehab Center

Rehab centers can offer you the best chance at a successful and safe recovery from Rohypnol addiction. Rehab centers offer the professional medical personnel that you need to monitor your progress through detox. They can sometimes even relieve some of your withdrawal symptoms and make you more comfortable. Rehab centers can also offer Dual Diagnostic treatment, which treats the addict as a whole and not just physically. This means that you will have the best counselors and therapists available to help you work through mental, emotional, and psychological problems that may accompany your physical Rohypnol addiction.

Rohypnol Rehabilitation Help

It can be intimidating to find the information that you need to start your recovery or to find the best Rohypnol rehab center for you. However, our toll-free helpline is available to you 24 hours a day to connect you with professional treatment. Our trained abuse and addiction counselors can answer your questions concerning Rohypnol addiction and its treatment. They can help you find the right rehab center for you. They can even help you find out if your insurance company will help pay for treatment. Call now and get the information you need to start your recovery from Rohypnol addiction.

Addicts never plan to become addicted. Sometimes circumstances lead people to rely on substances in order to find comfort and relief. Trying Rohypnol once or twice, recreationally or as an experiment, can turn into physical tolerance. Abusing Rohypnol frequently can lead into a psychological addiction, a controlling force that keeps you coming back again and again.

Signs of Rohypnol Addiction

The following are some signs that your Rohypnol use may have become an addictive habit:

Experiencing withdrawal symptoms

Sudden mood swings

Frequently being absent from work or school

Focusing your attention on the drug

Spending excessive amounts of money on buying Rohypnol

Feeling like you’re unable to function without taking Rohypnol

Frequent headaches

Respiratory depression

Continuing to abuse Rohypnol despite noticeable negative effects

Doctor shopping (going from doctor to doctor for more prescriptions)

Lying or deceitful behavior to obtain more Rohypnol

Stealing to get more pills

Increased isolation, distancing yourself from others

Legal or financial trouble

Mixing drugs despite potentially fatal interactions

Impaired cognitive and psychomotor skills

How Rohypnol Rehabilitation Works

There are numerous layers that make up an addiction and each one needs to be treated. For instance, many people who become addicted have mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety, or were victims of violent abuse and, as a consequence, have developed PTSD. Some people may be using Rohypnol to enhance the effects of other drugs that have a much greater hold, a separate addiction also wreaking havoc. All the root causes of addiction need to be addressed to relieve a person of the controlling effects of addiction. This is why, when looking for a rehab facility to treat an addiction, you need to look for integrated holistic treatment. Integrated treatments focus on the entire person – the physical, emotional, mental, psychological, and spiritual aspects. Finding a facility that treats Dual Diagnosis patients will also be beneficial if you have a mental health issue and an addiction. Again, treating the entire person and the root causes of an addiction can help heal you from the inside out. A qualified rehab center will work with your to prevent relapse in the future.

Help Ending the Habit of Rohypnol Addiction

Stop your addiction now with the help of a rehab center. Call our toll-free helpline to find out how your insurance may even cover the treatment costs. We keep our phone lines open 24 hours a day so you can contact us anytime. Let us know how we can help you.

Rohypnol is a benzodiazepine drug. It is used to achieve a sedated or hypnotic type of high, and it also can act as an anesthetic. Rohypnol is often associated with bars, night clubs and rave parties and is commonly referred to as the “date rape drug.” This street name is the result of Rohypnol being secretly administered so that the perpetrator can sexually assault the victim without being later identified. As with other benzodiazepines Rohypnol’s effects gradually decrease as a result of increased tolerance. As the body compensates for the presence of Rohypnol, more of the drug is needed to achieve the original effects. Addiction can occur in a matter of weeks, and each use is accompanied by the risk of severe consequences. Despite these deterrents many who commonly abuse Rohypnol would prefer to fight the side effects with continued use rather than be confronted with withdrawal symptoms.

Common Fears Concerning Rohypnol Addiction Rehabilitation

It is difficult to accept the possibility of addiction and overcome denial about a Rohypnol abuse problem. It is also intimidating to consider battling that addiction. Addicts may fear life without Rohypnol, as their behaviors, thoughts and social circles may revolve around the drug and drug use. Imagining social interactions, coping with stress or managing daily life without Rohypnol can be frightening or overwhelming. Thoughts of the rehab process may stifle progress towards change. Inpatient professional rehab centers are often perceived inaccurately. Potential patients may believe that being in treatment will feel confining and uncomfortable. The time away from home and loved ones may seem like too great of a sacrifice, and addicts may not believe that rehab is financially feasible.

The Truth Concerning Professional Rohypnol Addiction Treatment Centers

Rohypnol rehab is not the painful and isolating experience that users may believe it will be. The goal of quality treatment centers is to provide an environment conducive to recovery. Treatment options, much like individual addictions, are not identical. Doing the following increases a patient’s chances of choosing a rehab facility that is effective and appropriate for them:

Verify accreditation. If the program has been certified by an objective body such as CARF, then it is likely that industry standards and requirements are being met. This is a broad and effective method for narrowing the Rohypnol rehab search.

Visit potential facilities. The environment of a rehab center is important to recovery. One of the reasons that self-administered rehab fails is that the addict remains in a setting full of the people and things that have become associated with drug use. In a facility where the environment has been carefully constructed and monitored, these triggers are neutralized.

Staff to patient ratio. If there are sufficient staff members for each patient, the facility is more equipped to battle the specific aspects of each addiction.

Identify the priorities of the potential primary care counselor. If this counselor dedicates ample time to one-on-one meetings with patients, then the program is rightfully focused on the patients.

Availability of aftercare programs. The program should either offer their own aftercare services or be able to connect outgoing patients with an effective and consistent aftercare program.

If you are addicted to the Rohypnol you may think that your addiction is not affecting the people around you. But, the fact is that any drug addiction can damage the lives of your family, friends, co-workers and even complete strangers.

Effects of Rohypnol Addiction on Family and Friends

Drug addiction can take a huge toll on families. Drug addicts tend to spend all their time, energy and money acquiring and using drugs. They become isolated both physically and emotionally and miss out on quality time with their families. They often fail to meet their responsibilities and cause harm to family members, especially children. They often become financially unstable, leading to serious hardship for their families. Money problems caused by drug addiction can lead to many other indirect consequences that can harm loved ones and even result in the breakup of families. There is also an intangible emotional toll taken on the people who care about you. Family members can suffer devastating emotional turmoil worrying about a loved one in the grip of addiction.

Effects of Rohypnol Addiction on Job and Career

Drug addiction can have disastrous consequences for job performance and career success. Especially with a strong sedative/hypnotic drug like Rohypnol, addiction can impair your judgment, coordination and motor skills and overall performance in almost any occupation. Drug addiction commonly results in missed work, missed schedules and poor performance leading ultimately to dismissal. Besides losing your unrealized potential and everything you have worked for, losing your job can leave you and your family financially destitute.

In certain occupations working while under the effects of a strong sedative can pose a safety hazard with potentially disastrous consequences. You need to think again if you work with heavy machinery and suffer from Rohypnol addiction.

Effects of Rohypnol Addiction on Community

Even complete strangers can be harmed by the effects of your Rohypnol addiction. If you drive a car while on Rohypnol you are a menace to everyone in your path. A simple trip to the store could result in an accident that ruins or takes the life of an innocent bystander. The community at large pays many direct and indirect costs for drug addiction. The costs borne by the community for drug addiction include but are not limited to the following:

Higher insurance costs

Increased pressure on medical facilities to treat consequences of drug addiction

Higher crime rate and increased need for police

Increased pressure on judicial system

Damage to families and increased need for social services

Higher taxes to pay for government to address the problem

Lost productivity

Rohpynol is a drug that, taken as a prescription and under doctor’s orders, is effective in treating insomnia. But even in these safe, controlled, and legal situations, the drug should be used very carefully to avoid accidents and mistakes. The following is a list of how Rohypnol affects users:

Rohypnol as a sedative leads to sleepiness and being groggy

Muscle relaxation is one effect that can affect reaction time

Hallucinations can result if used in improper dosages or in combination with other drugs or alcohol

For these reasons, using and abusing the drug can be extremely dangerous. There is no guarantee that you are taking the drug in doses that are safe, and any combination of the drug with other drugs or alcohol can lead to severe health effects. In almost every case, a significant decline in good judgment is likely to occur. Rohypnol strongly affects people, so do not underestimate its effects.

Is Rohypnol a Date Rape Drug?

Because Rohpynol has the effect of causing short-term memory loss, it is sometimes used as a date rape drug. This obviously is illegal and exceedingly dangerous for all parties. The treacherous nature of using the drug for this purpose will lead to severe legal penalties. It is easy to see that how dangerous this drug is if it can be used for such sinister purposes. If you are abusing the drug and think you can control yourself when high, think again.

How Rohypnol Addiction Works

Even while not high on the drug, the addiction itself usually leads to serious errors of judgment as the addict becomes obsessed with obtaining the drug. Stealing, lying to loved ones, cheating friends, and even breaking and entering to get either the drug or money to buy the drug are examples of stupid behavior that can harm the addict, the addict’s friends and loved ones, and innocent bystanders.

Rohypnol Addiction Help

If you have had an episode with Rohpynol where you did something dangerous and perhaps even life-threatening, you can now take the right action by getting help. Be proactive and save a life, perhaps your own, by calling now to get help. Our 24 hour, toll-free helpline is now open, and it is operated by knowledgeable counselors.

Many people who struggle with addiction assume or fear they won’t be able to enjoy their life after drugs. This is understandable, as a life of drug abuse involves such excessive use that times without the drug may seem dull or lacking. The truth, however, is that drug abuse initiates an unhealthy and unnatural cycle of highs and lows that exaggerate one’s perception of each end of the spectrum. After a high, the lows seem especially deep; and, after such lows a high seems unreachable without drugs. But this is the deception of drugs like Rohypnol. While this cycle can make you feel as if a drug-free life would be boring and dull, a healthy future without Rohypnol doesn’t have to be. It can be fulfilling and exciting in ways that are natural and fun.

Will I Lose Friends by Going to Rohypnol Rehabilitation?

One of the reasons you may be worried about life after Rohypnol rehab is that most of your current friends might also be involved in drug use. It is true that in order to encourage a healthy, drug-free future you might need to sever certain relationships with people who use drugs. This is understandably difficult, but it is important to remember that you don’t have to abandon these people completely. You can tell them of the experiences you’ve had in rehab and how it helped you get clean. You can offer to point them in the same direction. But what you shouldn’t do is allow them to drag you back down into drug use. As much as these friendships might mean to you, it is important to remember that these relationships are also destructive. Support groups can provide you with the chance to build new, healthy relationships with people who share your goal of a healthy, drug-free future.

How to Avoid Rohypnol Relapse

Life after Rohypnol rehab also encourages recovering addicts to avoid the places that provoke drug use, such as bars or other hangouts. Just as with the severing of old friendships, this is an understandable concern – after all, everyone has their favorite places to spend time with friends. But again, after a battle with addiction, certain places can be especially risky for a recovering addict. Avoiding them might be difficult, but if a drug-free life is your goal, these old places will only push you back and not forward.

A great way to approach Rohypnol addiction recovery is to think of ways to replace old, damaging habits (or people and places) with constructive ones. For some people this might mean more time engaging spirituality; for others it could be exercise and healthy eating habits. After Rohypnol rehab, there will inevitably be voids in your life – empty spaces that drugs and everything that goes with them once filled. Healthy habits, relationships and places can fill these voids and help to build you up, instead of tearing you down.

Rohypnol Addiction Help

The most important thing to remember before, during and after Rohypnol rehab is that you don’t need to do it alone. The rehab professionals at a treatment facility are equipped to treat you during rehab and prepare you for life after you leave. After a stint in rehab, you can always return, and should, if you feel you might be slipping back toward Rohypnol use. You can always call our toll-free 24 hour helpline to speak with a trained addiction counselor who can answer your questions. Life after Rohypnol rehab can be great. Call today and find out how.
